SHAPE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: INTEGRATED COASTAL ZONE MANAGMENT AND MARITIME SPATIAL PLANNING.

Venice, 5 - 6 June 2012

On 5 - 6 June 2012 Venice will hostone of the main international events of the SHAPE project.The project is financed by the Programme fist call for ordinary projects, under the priority 2 “Natural and Cultural Resources and Risk Prevention”. SHAPE is an acronym for "Shaping an holistic Approach to Protect Environment Between the Adriatic coast and sea”; the project aims to improve the institutional capacity of protecting and managing the resources of the Adriatic Sea by means of appropriate governance instruments.The event, organized by the Veneto Region, will take place in Venice (Italy) at the “Don Orione Artigianelli Cultural Center – Dorsoduro, 909/A. The program starts on 4th June with a session for monitoring the projec progress from both the technical and administrative point of view (project partners only).On Tuesday, June 5th the focus will be on of the most relevant experiences on Maritime Spatial Planning and Integrated Coastal Zone Management: international experts will present cases of MSP and ICZM implementation at European and Marine Region scales, sub-regional scale and Adriatic basin scale. The final day of June 6, representatives of the major institutions will discuss MSP perspective in the Adriatic- a stakeholders roundtable will follow. The conference will close with an analysis of the opportunities an conflicts arising from the MSP and ICZM application in the Veneto Region.
